About the Designer
Andry Anastasiou was born in October 1994 in Limassol, Cyprus. In June 2015, after hard work, dedication and equipped with the knowledge, she graduated from AKTO Art and Design College in Athens, obtaining a BA First Class Honours in Fashion Design by Middlesex University London.
In April 2016, her University rewarded her for her successful performance and dissertation by sponsoring her participation in the largest fashion event in Greece – the Athens Xclusive Designers Week (AXDW) – where she was given the opportunity to present a collection for Fall/Winter 2016-2017.
The designer was invited to be one of the speakers at a seminar in Cyprus on Cultural Diplomacy and to present how fashion can act as a tool for diplomats to help them promote a country’s culture. Also, Andry, worked as a costume designer, designing costumes for theatre plays and a short film in Athens, Greece. Furthermore, she worked as a stylist assistant in top Greek advertising projects.
Andry is profoundly inspired by anything that is related to tradition; hence she loves adding elements from different cultures to her creations such as various kinds of embroidery or lace. Anything deriving from the past intrigues her and drives her to look into ways of reviving it.
In 2018 she started her MA course in Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University and was awarded a prestigious postgraduate scholarship. During her master's degree, she had the opportunity to experiment with new ideas, techniques, styles and widen her knowledge while she continued her research about how historical and traditional elements from her country can be modernized and used in contemporary designs.
